Infection Control Training

Infection prevention & control is integrated into every aspect of care delivery today.

This course is designed to highlight the responsibilities of every member of staff working within the care environment & to give a practical insight into the subject. The course provides information on types of infection, methods of transmission, the chain of infection & breaking it, standard precautions, isolation precautions & barrier nursing & practical ways of working. Peninsula understands that the care home is exactly that peoples home, & so we take into account the activities of the home in our training. Practical advice for infection control is provided with regards to all aspects of care including laundry, personal care & care of the deceased patient.

Who should complete this training session
This session is targeted to those who are working in any care setting, we recommend that Nurses, Senior Care Assistants, Care Assistants and Ancillary staff should complete this session to ensure that the spread of infection is reduced and to enable staff members are able to care and support those with an infection and those at risk of acquiring infection.

How it is Delivered
Trainers use a power point presentation accompanied with video clips. There are group discussions and activities which are feedback to the trainer. There is also a practical element to this training which everyone must participate in.

How this session is assessed
Trainers will use questioning both oral and written to test competence as well as observation during practical element of the session. Certificates of attendance are issued for each candidate.

2 hours approximately which includes a short comfort break
